In with the New Blogathon: Links!

I decided that the way I wanted to celebrate the New Year around here was to talk about new stuff that was better than the old stuff. Since this is a movie blog, naturally I meant remakes, or re-imaginings if you will. It got to a bit of a rocky start, but some of my blogging buddies have come through and joined the party. Below are links to every post submitted for the In with the New Blogathon.

Life Between Frames

Cody and Priscilla at Life Between Frames shake their tail-feathers a little more for 2007's Hairspray than for the John Waters original.

Rambling Film

Brittani at Rambling Film gave us three horror flicks that scare the pants off their predecessors.

Wandering Through the Shelves

Wanderer at Wandering Through the Shelves took on three versions of Jane Eyre.

Poisonous Tongue

Modesto Tapia at Poisonous Tongue lets us know why The Last House on the Left got scarier and why the remake of Imitation of Life was no mere, um, imitation.

A Fistful of Films

Andrew at A Fistful of Films gets with David Fincher's version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

FlixChatter

Ruth and Ted at FlixChatter combined to give us four remakes that outdid the originals.

Big Screen Small Words

Big Screen Small Words defended Lindsay Lohan, or at least the version of The Parent Trap she stars in.

Jordan, The Epileptic Moondancer shows us how the Coens improved upon a John Wayne classic.

Dell on Movies

Last, and probably least, I created two entries of my own. The first praises Scorsese's The Departed while the second finds me giddy over shirtless men thrusting their big swords.

Sure, the deadline has officially passed, but I'm a bit of a pushover. Therefore, if you throw a post together this week and leave the link below, I'll gladly add your banner to this post. By the way, also let me know if you've created a post for this blogathon that I've somehow missed.

  3. SIGH. I was going to do this, I really was, but I've just been too busy. For what it's worth, I was going to do Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much - a rare instance of a director remaking his own work. Maybe I'll write up something quick this week but I don't think so.

  5. Damnit my internal clock is non-existent, I didn't even realised it was close to the 8th. And now it is the 11th. Bummer. Another great idea for a blogathon though Dell, good stuff. And your 300 pick was great too, one I wasn't expecting.

Say Dell, how much of a pushover are you? I'd love to slap together a post, I'd even thought of the movie i wanted to pick and I'm stuck home with a broken foot - I can't even leave the house unless someone drives me!
