The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (sorta)

We've arrived at The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Boys and girls, I did not write a brand new review for this one. I stand by everything I wrote in my original review. Long story short, this movie sucks. Hard. If you want details on why...

Since you came all this way, and just want to be on this page, here are some pretty pictures, some from the movie, some not.

  1. Yeah, there's no point in re-reviewing that film. It was shit. It never felt like a Spider-Man movie but something far more bloated and nonsensical. And to that they did so much but forgot to tell a story as they were more concerned with setting up their own cinematic universe. I feel bad for all involved including Shailene Woodley who did film scenes as Mary Jane but it ended up being cut out of the film. Ugh...

    1. So glad this didn't get turned into a Spidey-Verse.

  3. Is Amazing Spider-Man 2 the OFFICIAL worst Spider-Man movie? I saw it on cable when it was still fairly new and it didn't make me want to hurry and get caught up on the Spider-Man movies after I missed Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man.

This week, I noticed several channels were showing Fourth of July Week Spidey Marathons, so I decided to get caught up. I watched The Amazing Spider-Man a couple of days ago, and it was SO BAD! But I remember the second one well enough to remember that it was noticeably worse. The first one gets a few extra points for some cool Lizard scenes (I don't remember Electro or the Rhino or the Osbornes having any cool scenes). Also, the first one didn't kill Gwen Stacy, so that's good for a few extra points.

Today I watched Spider-Man 3, and I kept thinking "If I hadn't just seen The Amazing Spider-Man, I'd probably think this was a bad movie." Because it's not good, but the Sandman was pretty awesome, despite the obsession of modern comic-book screen writers who think everything has to be tied to a super-hero's origin and every revelation has to be LOADED with portent. I was surprised when Flint Marko's daughter wasn't named Sandy.

Hopefully, I'll catch Far from Home soon. Then I just need to see Homecoming and I'm all caught up with Spider-Man movies.

    1. Of the "modern" Spidey flicks, yes, it's the worse. I didn't hate The Amazing Spider-Man. It did have some good things in it. Part 2? Nah.
