Here is your chance to vent.
Even for venting, there are rules, though. They are as follows:
1. Pick one movie that "everyone" loves (the more iconic, the better). That movie must have a score of at least 80% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you hate it.
2. Pick one movie that "everyone" hates (the more notorious, the better). That movie must have a score of less than 30% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you love it.
3. Include the tomato meter scores of both movies.
That's pretty much it.
Oh yeah, let's make sure we let as many people as possible know how crazy you are. Leave a link to your post in the comments section below. In a few weeks, I'll create a post with links to all the entries.
By the way, should a movie you select not have a grade on rottentomatoes.com, use a score of at least 7.5 on imdb.com for ones you hate and less than 4.0 for ones you love.
I'm setting the deadline for two weeks from now: July 13, 2014.
Happy Blogging!
Oh wow, that's going to be an easy one for me, since it just so happens I already have several and I could probably find one or two more:

Also, for a film I liked that a lot of people hated:

Great! Can't wait to see what you cook up for this one.
DeleteInteresting. I think I can cook something up for this. Reminds me of my defense of RZ's Halloween movies. Not to mention my unabashed love for Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance.
ReplyDeleteCool, I'm looking forward to your entry.
DeleteThis is a fantastic idea! I can't wait to put an entry together :)
ReplyDelete- Allie
Hopefully that means we'll get 4 movies for the price of two. Right?
DeleteYou know it! Double is always better :D
DeleteWell, the hate post is EASY...but now I have to defend something others hated...which could be hard. I'll get on that!
ReplyDeleteI have great confidence you'll come up with something good. Glad to have you aboard.
DeleteWell, I've got my first entry right here. I'll need to get back to you on the film I like that everyone hates but I can probably find a few things just browsing through John Carpenter's career. The one I'm discussing here has a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes, so I think it should count.
ReplyDeletehttp://hitchcocksworld.blogspot.ca/2014/06/against-crowd-blogathon-rant-against.html
Wow! That was quick. You weren't joking when you said this would be easy for you.
DeleteInteresting! I'm sure I can find something I hated pretty easily, but loving something everyone else hated..that's tough! I'm going to try.
ReplyDeleteI figure your dilemma is the same as most, but I know you can do it.
DeleteExcited to take part in this. Also, I've passed John's influential directors relay on to you. Enjoy! http://www.andsoitbeginsfilms.com/2014/06/relay-ten-most-influential-directors-of.html
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your entry. Thanks for the baton.
DeleteSo, I'm in. I'm pretty I can knock this one out of the park. Or at least an infield single.
ReplyDeleteInfield singles count, my friend, though I'm sure a slugger like you can reach the fences in my tiny ballpark.
DeleteThis sounds awesome! I hope I make it by the deadline.
ReplyDeleteThe more the merrier. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteDell I need your help! Are we using Rottentomatoes Tomatometer as the scoring basis or the Audience Popcorn score? The film I love is rotten at 22% on the meter but 65% of the audience liked it!
ReplyDelete- Allie
I was going with the Tomatometer, or critic's score since audience scores tend to hover closer to the middle (50-70%).
DeletePhew! That's good, I assumed so but wanted to check. Thanks! :)
