The 2015 Dellies

At long last, it's finally time for the 2015 Dellies! These awards are based solely on my opinion and are for movies that came out during the calendar year of 2015, according to US release dates. Since these are The Dellies, each of today's winners will receive the much coveted Sandwich.

Sandwich...Dellies...deli...get it?

Do not look for a Best Picture award because there isn't one. I'll reveal that later in the week when I unveil my official Best of 2015 list.

I'm done babbling. Each picture can be enlarged by clicking on them, of course. Let's do this. Oh, a little warning: though there is no nudity in this post (or on this site), some of the gifs used are a bit on the graphic side. Now, let's do this.

  1. I like these choices. Very diverse and all over the place for good reason. That scene w/ Chris Hemsworth was hilarious. The movie, not so much except for the scenes with Chevy Chase.

    1. I'm completely out of my depth when it comes to a number of the tech categories so I just lump them all together. I think I saw them, but I will hop over to your site and make sure.

  4. 2015 was such an amazing year for Supporting Actors!
You've also reminded me that I still haven't watched Tangerine!

    1. Yes, those supporting categories were tough. Please see Tangerine. I really want to hear your thoughts on it.

  5. Ignoring the fact that I keep seeing a d**k instead of a sandwich in the award pic, I agree with you on pretty much everything, especially on that mind blowing action sequence in Kingsman. I quite enjoyed Jurassic World though. For me it was awesome without the so-bad part.

    1. I didn't see THAT in the awards pic, but now that you said that I can't unsee it. It killed me to put that Hemsworth gif, but now I'm just in hell. Thanks for that, lol.

  6. Yey that Church scene! I have no idea how they can top that in the sequel. The film was such a pleasant surprise, considering Vaugh made it and Kick-Ass is the worst movie I've seen in my entire life

    1. What an amazing scene, that was. Definitely going to be hard to top it in the sequel.

  7. Hard to disagree with a lot of these nominations and picks. I love the nod to Jason Mitchell in Straight Outta Compton, which should have gotten a lot more acclaim than it did.

For animated films, if you haven't yet seen When Marnie Was There, it's one to hunt down.

Also a big yes to Charlize Theron, whose lack of nomination still shocks me.

    1. Thanks. Makes me feel like I did a good job.

Haven't seen When Marnie Was There. I've heard good things about it so I'll check it out.

      She was awesome, wasn't she?

  8. Wow! What a phenomenal post. And I appreciate the love for The Big Short. That movie tackled a complicated issue and made it surprisingly entertaining.

    1. Thanks! The Big Short is a very good movie. Spotlight, also very good, pulls off the same trick.

  9. Fun post Dell. Charlize Theron was bad-ass for sure in Fury Road, good call.
Sad to see Inside Out lose best animated, but glad won for voice-over. I admire Anomalisa from a technical aspect thou.
Oh, and feature documentaries. When you can, check out the true crime doc The Fear of 13 (2015). It’s amazing.

    1. Thanks! Inside Out was a close second. I guess that makes Phyllis Smith's win a consolation prize. She was amazing, as was Poehler. I've been meaning to watch that one for quite a while. I'll get on it.

  10. This post just reminds me how many movies I missed in 2015, Anomalisa definitely needs watching! Glad you gave Idris and Charlize some much deserved love. George Miller also deserved it hey, Fury Road is still one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. Great post.

    1. Oh please see Anomalisa. Just be aware it's definitely meant for adults. Miller was phenomenal on Fury Road. BTW, I know I'm way late on the article I promised you, but I haven't forgotten about it.
