Announcement: Against the Crowd Blogathon 2016

It's Blogathon time, once again. Earlier this year, I hosted The Acting Black Blogathon, my only blogathon to this point in 2016. I couldn't let the year pass without another. I most certainly could not let the year pass without partaking in what's become a tradition, the annual Against the Crowd Blogathon.

The rule of sequels is to go bigger than the previous installments.

I needed help doing that. I felt the person for the job was someone who has become one of my best blogging buddies, Kgothatjo Magolego, or KG for short, of KG's Movie Rants. I really admire his blog and he has expressed interest in hosting a blogathon of his own, but wasn't sure exactly what he wanted to do. Seizing that opportunity, I asked him to co-host this year's installment. Luckily, he accepted. And he knocked it out the park by coming up with most of these fantastic banners.

Thank you, KG!!!

Okay, enough of my yapping. How do you get involved? The rules are simple...

1. Pick one movie that "everyone" loves (the more iconic, the better). That movie must have a score of at least 75% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you hate it.

2. Pick one movie that "everyone" hates (the more notorious, the better). That movie must have a score of less than 35% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you love it.

3. Include the tomato meter scores of both movies.

4. Use one of the banners in this post, or feel free to create your own.

5. Comment on this post, or on KG's Movie Rants with the two movies you intend on writing on.

6. Publish your post on any day from Monday August 22 through Friday August 26, 2016.

By the way, should a movie you select not have a grade on rottentomatoes.com, use a score of at least 7.5 on imdb.com for ones you hate and less than 4.0 for ones you love.

Though there are thousands of movies that qualify, duplicates are still "sorta" okay. In other words, you may have one movie in common with another blogger, but not both.

There will be a list at the end of this post that will be updated as bloggers sign up.

Remember - once you've finished with your post come back here and comment with the link so we can all see how you prove the world wrong about a movie it loves/hates.

KG and I are eagerly awaiting your post. Happy Blogging!!!

    1. Glad you're excited for it, but please try to hold off until at least the 22nd for the official kick-off. Oh, let me know which movies you're covering on the off chance someone else wants to do the same two films. Thanks.

    2. Oh crap! I missed that part of the instructions (I really need to work on paying attention) and already posted. I suppose I could try and find something else to post within the actual given timeframe.
