31 Days of Horror Begins

Aw crap, I'm late.

2016 marks the seventh year I've been doing 31 Days of Horror here at Dell on Movies. It's also the first one where I did not have a post go live exactly at midnight EST on October 1st. Bad blogger. Bad blogger.

Anyhoo, the goal of this annual exercise is for me to post something horror related every day of the month of October. In the past, these have mostly been movie reviews, but it has also included lists, blogathons, and other stuff I deem as qualifying. As far as the movies, I've been known to get into all types from all eras and even genres. That means I've included my fair share of comedies and other films that include characters who are traditionally part of horror. That will continue this year.

What will also continue is that the quality of the films is going to vary wildly. I'll get into everything from classics to movies so bad they're awesome! If you know anything about this site, don't just skip a review because you think the movie is crap, or have never even heard of it. The truth of the matter is the worse the movie the better the review. At least that's a good rule of thumb for this place.

That's all I've got for my intro. I'll be back shortly with my first review of the horror season.

  1. Well, better late than never. I'm eager for what you will be doing as will I as I'm also devoting this month to horror.

  2. I don't think I can do 31 days of horror despite my October birthday. I do end the month with 10 straight days of it, though, so I'm already pre-loading reviews (one down, about 18 more to go).

Looking forward to seeing what you put up.

  3. Well it seems that everyone will be focusing on horror this month. I have such feeble nerves that I simply avoid horror/slasher flicks so it'll be business as usual for me. But I still might have guest reviews on horror movies, i.e. Ouija, etc. I know that the local film festivals will have a ton of horror offerings too. Have fun, Dell!

    1. I most certainly will have fun!

If you can't go for straight horror, by the way, there are lots of horror related comedies that might work for you. I might get into one or two of those this month.

    2. Well, hope you stop by tomorrow's Five for the Fifth as one of my questions is on that topic ;-)

  4. That picture is horrible/awesome! What is that character from?

I won't have time to watch many movies this month, so I'll live vicariously through you, my friend. :-)

    1. I don't think it's a character "from" anything. I just found it with a Google search.

I welcome anyone living vicariously through me.

  5. Yes!! Really looking forward to reading your posts this month Dell. Well, I look forward to them all the time but you know what I mean! Jenna and I are braving horror for the first time this year so we'll no doubt be on the hunt for some recommendations :)
