Girl Week 2017: Ariel's All-Time Favorite Movies

It's Day 4 of Girl Week 2017. If you're in America, like me, it's also Thanksgiving Day. So I hope you and yours have a very happy one. And...

Try not to eat too much.

And save me a plate. I'll be by to pick it up while I'm making my rounds.

Just kidding.

Or am I?

Moving on...

One of the things I'm thankful for is my family. So today, I'm letting a member of that illustrious group take over. All the films this person will discuss do not feature female protagonists or directors, but since this person is my 15 year-old daughter, my little mermaid, Ariel, it's okay. She's a girl. By the way, that pic at the top is an actual photo from our family album. Anyhoo, I know it's Thanksgiving, you're busy, and because I couldn't coax a quote out of her about each film, I'm not going to burden you with many more words, other than some links and the end and the titles of...

  1. That's lovely you let your daughter pick! She's got some great films on this list.

And yaaassss to HSM. Those movies are ridiculous and funny. I watched them with my niece.

  2. Your daughter has a great taste in movies! I can't believe Batman & Robin made it to the list though.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving! Nice idea to mix it up and have your daughter share her top 20. I know you love Coming to America yourself Wendell. I guess we sometimes fall in love with our parents favorites (I know I have a few my family have introduced me to).

  4. Some very good movies on this list. I LOVE A Christmas Story, My Cousin Vinny, The Back to the Future films (well I love the first and the third but the second was kind of a mess) and Stand by Me. Really pleased to see Man on the Moon on the list and rated so high! That's a lovely under-known gem with a beautiful performance from Reese Witherspoon.

    1. I'm not as high on Man in the Moon, but it's nice to see an atypical choice make it high on her list, especially one she discovered on her own and introduced me to.

  5. A Christmas Story was filmed in the city i live! Back to the Future was fun. Love Edward Scissorhands-such a quirky, funny and yet, sad fairy tale. I have to giggle at Sheena though:)

  6. I think I see some of her dad's influence up there. There are quite a lot of oldies!

    1. There are. To be honest, I'm very surprised by what didn't make it.

  7. I love the fact that your daughter compiled this list! I read it aloud to my daughter Sarah, and she would like me to relay to "Ariel" that she needs to watch the original Let the Right One In (which is her very favorite movie). Let Me In is great, too. :-)

    1. Oh, I've told her all about Let the Right One In. It's a fantastic film, but she's not ready to bite, yet. ;)
