Announcement: Against the Crowd Blogathon 2018

It's that time. This is the time when you are encouraged to tell the masses how wrong they have it. That means, the Against the Crowd Blogathon 2018 is upon us. It's not just any ol' blogathon, either. This is the 5th annual Against the Crowd Blogathon.

If you've participated in the past, hopefully, you're getting hype with anticipation and plotting your entry for this year. If you haven't, well, the name is pretty self-explanatory, but I'll go into more detail, just for you.


1. Pick one movie that "everyone" loves (the more iconic, the better). That movie must have a score of 75% or more on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you hate it.

2. Pick one movie that "everyone" hates (the more notorious, the better). That movie must have a score of 35% or less on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you love it.

3. Include the tomato meter scores of both movies.

4. Use one of the banners in this post, or feel free to create your own.

5. Let us know what two movies you intend on writing about in one of the following ways:

6. Publish your post on any day from Monday August 20 through Sunday August 26, 2017.


By the way, should a movie you select not have a grade on rottentomatoes.com, use a score of at least 7.5 on imdb.com for ones you hate and less than 4.0 for ones you love. Though there are thousands of movies that qualify, duplicates are still "sorta" okay. In other words, you may have one movie in common with another blogger, but not both. There will be a list at the end of this post that will be updated as bloggers sign up.

      Worked out should have the time - there's a whole week to submit! So put me down for Notting Hill (1999) as the film I hate but people love and Cocktail (1988) for the film I love but everyone hates.     i I’m I must get my thinking cap on. I think I know which movie I will use which everyone loves but I have to think of a fil I love but everyone hates. This should be fun

    Interestingly, both of my selections this year got Oscar nominations.

    Gigi won Best Picture, but I can't stand it. One of my guilty pleasures is the 1981 version of Endless Love, which earned Lionel Richie an Oscar nomination for writing the title song. So TCM can run that during 31 Days of Oscar. ;-)

    Noooooo... I missed it! :'( And I have been participating so well.. ugh... damn it!! August and the beginning of September was just a rough time for me, so I feel like an ass right now... damn... I hope I will not miss it next year!
