Join Me for The Girl Week Blogathon!
I've been going back over the year that was 2014 in preparation for my personal awards, The Dellies. I had hoped to have them finished and posted by tomorrow, but that isn't going to happen. With an expansion in categories, meaning a larger post (or posts) and still trying to watch a couple of major films that I missed, it's become a tougher task than I thought it would be. That's not even counting the two additional posts for my best and worst of 2014 that would also happen over the course of a few days. I'm still hopeful for the following week, but we'll see how that pans out.
As you know, I also spent October drilling myself, and my readers, with horror flicks. What you may or may not know is that I watched lots of other films during that time. It so happens that a good number of them had a female protagonist. This got me to thinking. Since I can't do awards week like a want to, how about something else? I like to consider myself something of a feminist, though a far from perfect one. Why not make this entire week about the ladies?
That's what I'm gonna do.
All this week, starting tomorrow, I'll be posting about films with female leads. We've got some comedies, some action, a documentary, a kiddie flick, a couple of musicals...some of everything. I'm going to have fun. When I came up with this idea, this got me to thinking some more. Why keep all the fun to myself. Why not share?
That's what I'm gonna do.
I want YOU to join me for Girl Week. I know this is an impromptu thing that popped into my head this morning and not as tightly focused as my normal blogathon, but I thought it would be cool to do. There is really only one rule:
1. Create a post about a film with a female lead character.
It can be a review, but does not have to be one. If it is a review, it doesn't have to be a positive one as I personally did not like every film I'm going to be showcasing this week. However, you are welcome to talk about women in any capacity relating to film.
The rest is just standard blogathon stuff:
2. Use one of the banners I created, or feel free to create one of your own.
3. Link back to this post.
4. Leave a link to your post in the comments section below.
5. Have fun!
Next weekend, I will create a post with links to all of your work.
In the meantime, you can check some of my other girl themed posts;

DeleteHoly crap! That was quick!
DeleteGood timing with the new Hunger Games coming out this week. Think I'll join in the fun
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, that was purely coincidental. I suppose the Movie God is at work, lol. Can't wait to read your entry.
DeleteI'm sorry I haven't been around as much. I've been going through a difficult time and I'm struggling to get back into things, but this does sound like my kind of activity. Considering my extensive library of feminist writings it would make sense, though I'll have to try and find something I haven't already covered at length which will be difficult. I've also got classes going on so I'll have to see how my schedule holds up. I can't make any promises, but if I find something I'll try to write about it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can, but if not I understand.
DeleteThis sounds fun, I'll definitely try to participate.
ReplyDeleteI hope so. I'd love to see what you cook up.
DeleteSounds great! I'm anxious to see what pops up.
ReplyDeleteI volunteer this review as tribute (get it? Cause it's Hunger Games...okay, I'll stop)

DeleteOhhh I like this. But do you need it by the 21st? 22nd?
ReplyDeleteEither will work. My links post will go up on the 22nd, but I will happily adjust it if you post on that day.
