Happy 50th Halle Berry!!!

Today is the day Halle Berry turns the big 5-0. Being completely honest, there is just no way to guess her age if you weren't already aware of how long she's been in the public eye. To this day, she remains a stunningly beautiful woman. We'll save the debate on the advantages and disadvantages of this for another day. For now, we'll just note that the photo at the top of this post was taken only a few months ago, and we'll take a look at some of the highlights of Ms. Berry's life and career.

Born August 14, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio

Graduated Bedford High School in 1984

In 1985, Ms. Berry won the Miss Teen All-American pageant, and followed that by winning the Miss Ohio pageant in 1986. Also in '86 she became the first African-American entrant into the Miss World pageant. She finished 6th.

1989 would see Ms. Berry land her first acting gig. She played Emily in Living Dolls, a spin-off of Who's the Boss which ran only 12 episodes. The show's main character was played by a young Leah Remini.

In 1991 she makes her film debut with a small but memorable role in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever.

She became a spokeswoman for Revlon in 1996.

In 1999, Berry starred in the HBO biopic Introducing Dorothy Dandridge as the first African-American woman to ever be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. For her performance, she won an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a SAG award. The fact she plays Dandridge turns out to be ironic because...

Halle Berry became the first African-American to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in 2001's Monster's Ball.

In 2002, despite how bad the movie is as a whole (or how bad you thought she was), she gave us one of the most iconic Bond girl moments of all-time. This probably led directly to...

Berry being named #1 on People's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" list and on FHM's "100 Sexiest Women in the World" list.

In 2005, she starred in the dreadful Catwoman and "won" a Razzie for Worst Actress in the process. The highlight? She did something only one other actor (Tom Green) had done before her. She showed up in person to receive her award, with her Oscar in hand.

Halle Berry was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.

Finally, Halle Berry is also a mom. Her daughter was born in 2008, and her son in 2013.

  1. 50? She don't look 50. Still, it's a big congrats to someone who is a really good actress. Especially as I think she was overlooked somewhat for her work in Cloud Atlas which I liked a lot.

  2. I had no idea she was even near 50. This makes me want to watch Gothika again. (I know, weird favorite)
