I love doing all the movie reviews that I typically do during my annual 31 Days of Horror, but what I've come to love even more are the chances I get to make it a bit more interactive. That's why I've brought the Spot the Titles Contest to October.
If you've not taken part in any of the five previous iterations of this contest, it's an easy game to play, but not so easy to win. It takes a keen eye and a decent knowledge of cinematic history. Here's how it works:
I've written some bars...16 of them in this case, the same as a standard verse in a rap song, I've crammed a bunch of movie titles into the lyrics. Your job is to guess exactly how many that is. There might only be one. Then again, there could be one hundred one. And since it's that special time of year, all of the titles are from horror (or horror related) movies.
Count carefully. Post your guess in the comments section below, or tweet it to me @w_ott3. If tweeting, please use #SMTCONTEST.
There is one other, very small rule to the game:
DO NOT POST ANY OF THE MOVIE TITLES YOU SPOT IN YOUR COMMENT.
ONLY POST THE NUMBER OF TITLES YOU THINK THERE ARE IN THE VERSE.
ANYONE VIOLATING THIS RULE WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND MAY HAVE THEIR COMMENT DELETED.
The reason for this is if you post titles, people behind you will be able to simply build off your work.
In other words, casual conversation about the contest is encouraged, but posting a list of titles is not. To further clarify...
this is okay...
"Man, that was tough. I came up with 15."
This is not okay...
"Man, that was tough. I came up with Furious 7 Terminator 2 Lethal Weapon 4"
Got it?
Good.
...the person who guesses closes to the number of titles without going over. In the event of a tie, the person who turned their guess in first will be declared the winner.
What the Winner Gets
Free advertising on Dell on Movies on each of my remaining posts for 31 Days of Horror 2018.
Should the winner be the proud owner of a blog, podcast, youtube channel, etc., I will link to something of yours, of my choosing, every post until the allotted number is filled. I will also tweet those links out. If you win, but don't have one of those things, I'll happily just pimp your twitter handle and choose a tweet of yours to do so for the same time frame.
The winner will be announced in a post revealing all the answers on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
Let's get to these...
(purposely leaving out all capitalization)
on friday the 13th, a fright night, i heard a scream
was it a hellraiser outside or just bad dreams?
should i die before i wake pray my soul to take as i sleep
now prepared to deal with a night of the creeps
freaks, goblins, werewolves, and vampires
mary shelley’s frankenstein, all of the evil empire
from dusk til dawn the evil dead tried to get at me
even think i saw some paranormal activity
movement in darkness, heard the howling of petals on the wind
the strangers and the queen of the damned trying to get in
get out you monsters is what i’m screaming at these demons
they’re telling me you’re next, you’re gonna be bleeding
sinister and insidious so i pulled the covers up high
shut the blinds tight in case the hills have eyes
realized they were nightmares when I woke up damp
at twilight in a cabin in the woods at sleepaway camp
Hmmm...I shall say 22.
ReplyDeleteUmm...lots.
